TODAY'S QUOTE: “Don't
let life discourage you; everyone who got where he is had to begin where he was.”

TODAY'S TOPIC:
Don't Get Discouraged
Have
you ever noticed that sometimes life does not work the way you want?
Sometimes, even when you plan or practice, things don’t turn out the
way you expect?
I
went to see Cirque du Soleil’s Varekai
a
couple of weeks ago. Cirque du
Soleil is a show where people do amazing things with their bodies, contorting
themselves in ways that seem impossible to me.
The show also features performers who are clearly the best – the best
jugglers, trapeze artists, etc. Watching
the show, it was obvious to me that a tremendous amount of practice went into
each act. These performers were so
precise that they knew exactly what was happening and when.
Yet
even with all the practice, occasionally the performers missed a step or dropped
a ball. Even though they had
anticipated every move and had it down to a science, they still missed
occasionally.
Life
is like that sometimes, isn’t it? Sometimes,
we plan and anticipate and yet things still happen.
We get all our ducks in a row, and an unaccepted duck comes along.
There’s an old saying that fits -- “You make plans and God laughs.”
But
here’s what I noticed at the show. Even
when they missed, they kept going. They
smiled and acted like everything was fine, and the show went on as planned.
They didn’t falter when things didn’t go the way they planned or
hoped. They just took it in stride
and kept going. I’m sure they
were disappointed, but they didn’t stop.
They didn’t get discouraged!
It’s
the same in life, isn’t it? We
can’t get stopped and discouraged whenever things don’t go our way.
Sometimes we may need to change direction.
Sometimes we need to step back, take a break or let it go.
Sometimes we need to plow ahead. But
what we can’t do is get discouraged, disempowered and unresourceful.
Ultimately, what I’ve discovered is that it’s all ok anyway.
Whatever happens….it’s ok and we’re ok.
So
how about it? Can you be like the
jugglers and trapeze artists who missed a step?
Can you allow yourself to stay positive even when things don’t go your
way? Can you learn from whatever
has not gone smoothly? Can you
remember that ultimately, everything is fine?
Can you see that you may be in a better position now because of it?
Of course you can!

has not gone the way you want lately? What
can you learn? What is the greater
reason for this? How are you better
off because of it?
