TODAY'S QUOTE:  "Our fears must never hold us back from pursuing our hopes."

TODAY'S TOPIC: Overcoming FEAR

Have you ever felt trapped or afraid and then realized later that your fears were unfounded?  Do you know what FEAR means?  FEAR is an acronym for False Evidence Appearing Real.  Sometimes, we think we see evidence or feel evidence that truly isn’t there.  It’s an illusion.  But in our minds, it is real; therefore, we get stuck and do not move forward toward our dreams and desires.

Let me give you a literal example of false evidence.  Yesterday I was at the local animal shelter where I volunteer.  There was a cat in a cage without food and water.  When I asked a staff member about it, she realized the cat had gotten into the cage on her own.  The cage door was not actually closed all the way or locked.  The cat could have pushed the door or nudged it slightly, and the door would have opened.  She could have easily gotten free and been able to get food, water and a litter box.

Instead, it *appeared* that the door was closed, and she was trapped.  There was *false* evidence that the cage was locked and closed.  But to the cat and to me, it appeared real.  Once we opened the door, the cat immediately ran out of the cage.  She was liberated once we realized the evidence was false.  She was no longer limited because of FEAR.

We do that, too, don’t we?  We take false evidence and assume it’s real?  Don’t we sometimes get stuck or discouraged because we see false evidence?  Have you ever felt you couldn’t do something, because you had never done it before?  Have you ever stopped yourself from going after a dream, because you didn’t have the time, money or support?  These are all examples of false evidence appearing real, or FEAR.

So how do you release the FEAR?  First, you recognize it as false.  When you hear that little voice in your head that says you are limited, realize it is false.  Replace it with affirmations and language to yourself that empower you.  When you start to see your fears in mental images, change the picture you see.  When you feel the fearful emotions, focus on your courage, confidence, love and other empowering emotions.  Just as we realized the cage door was false, you need to recognize your fears are false.

Second, keep focused on your dreams, goals and desires even if all evidence indicates that you will not succeed.  You can create new evidence in your mind and heart by visualizing what you want.

Third, get into motion.  Sometimes the FEAR goes away when we move into action.  When I asked the staff member about the cat cage, I got into action, and the results changed.  If you have a desire, dream or goal, move into action.  Action is one of the best ways to eliminate the FEAR.

So how about it?  Are you ready to release your FEARS?  If you are committed to achieving your goals and dreams, I encourage you to join my weekly coaching group.  Through this group, you can release your FEARS and realize your desires and dreams.
