TODAY'S QUOTE:  “Take your passion and make it happen”

TODAY'S TOPIC:  Commitment

When is the last time you committed yourself fully to your dreams and goals?  When is the last time you went after your dreams regardless of what other people said?

If you want to achieve your goals and fulfill your dreams, you must commit fully to them.  You must take action to realize your dreams, and you must go forward even if everyone tells you your dreams are unattainable.

Let me give you an example.  A few weeks ago, my 13-year old nephew told me he wanted to meet Tony Robbins.  For those of you unfamiliar with Tony Robbins, let me explain.  Tony Robbins coaches famous athletes, presidents and members of the royal family.  People pay him one million dollars a year to coach them, and thousands of people attend his live motivational seminars.  In other words, Tony is a very busy man who is in demand.

I explained to my nephew, Jason, that his chances of meeting Tony and having a conversation with him were pretty slim.  But Jason was bound and determined.  He committed to his goal, and he said he would make it happen.

A couple of weeks ago, Jason went to a kids’ camp put on by Tony Robbins.  Tony spoke one night, and Jason tried to talk with him.  But Jason could not get to Tony, since bodyguards surrounded Tony.  This did not deter Jason though.  A couple of days later, Tony held a seminar in Denver, and Jason attended.

Jason wrote a letter and asked me to get it to Tony, since I staffed the event.  I gave the letter to someone and hoped it would get to Tony.  Because Jason was committed to his goal, he asked multiple people repeatedly if Tony had received his letter.  Finally, Jason talked to the right person.

Well guess what happened?  Jason went backstage, met Tony and had a conversation with him!   You see, Jason was committed to his goal, and he did what it took to make the goal happen.  Although the odds were nearly impossible, Jason was committed.  Although he was told he wouldn’t be able to talk with Tony, Jason knew he could make it happen.

When was the last time you really committed to a goal or to something?  When you commit fully, you will make it happen.  When you commit, you’re willing to take the actions necessary to achieve your goal.  When you commit fully and believe in yourself, you make your dreams come true.

Let me give you another example of commitment to a dream.  I have a client who determined the career she wanted when she was 15 years old.  People tried to discourage her and tell her it couldn’t happen.  But she was committed and determined.  Though the path wasn’t easy, she made it happen.  She eventually got the career she wanted!  She took the actions necessary to achieve her dream, because she made up her mind and believed in herself.

If you aren’t getting what you want in your life, I bet you really aren’t committed, or you don’t believe you can make it happen.  You see, when you really want something and are committed, you will make it happen.  When you believe in yourself and your dream, you will do what it takes to get what you desire.  You will overcome obstacles and defy the odds.

My friends, here are the keys.

*** You must believe in your goal.  Everyone told the Wright brothers people couldn’t fly.  But they believed in the goal.  Despite the opinions of people around them, they believed in their dreams.  My nephew believed he could meet Tony Robbins despite everyone telling him he couldn’t.  He believed even though he had plenty of evidence telling him he couldn’t.  You must believe in yourself and your goals and dreams.

*** You must be committed.  It does you no good to believe in your dreams if you aren’t committed to them.  When you’re committed, you go after your dreams.  When you’re fully committed, nothing stops you.

*** You must take actions that will achieve your dreams and goals.  You can’t sit around doing prayers or meditating about your dreams.  You must take steps and move your feet.

So how about it?  Are you ready to commit fully to your dreams?  Are you ready to believe in yourself and your dreams?  Now is the time to commit and take action.  Don’t wait, my friends.  Do it now.
